The caves of Gargas were used 27,000 years ago by stone-age hunters.
They have left behind many signs of their presence.
During your visit you will be able to admire the huntsmen’s secret works of art, consisting of many animal carvings and paintings.
You will also see the curious collection of outlines of more than two hundred hands with missing digits or joints, that continue to mystify pre-historians.
Gargas as a site is both ancient and vulnerable.
To help guarantee the preservation of the prehistoric paintings, the number of visitors is limited.
